Life as a Superstar!

It’s true…. I think they keep track of my schedule to find out when I’ll be planning on staying in the apartment all day just so they can plan some sort of loud project to take place during that time.

Pretty much every off Friday that I have where I decide I want to stay in and do nothing, they do landscaping (RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW). There’s barely anything to landscape, how much can you do? Or that’s one of the days they decide to work on the balcony of the apartment above us at 8:00am.

Today, Jonathan is going to a Phillies game with his friend, Dan, and I was going to take the time to chill out today and do some chores, enjoy some quiet time and such. BUT alas, they decide that today would be a great day to re-do the carpets and tile floors in the newly empty apartment above us. Yup, on a SUNDAY of a HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Argh. All I hear is banging over my head and every possible electric tool it seems. We can barely hear each other talk when we’re standing right next to each other, it’s that loud.

I might actually enjoy going to the grocery store today to escape the noisy ruckus. And I’m going clothes shopping too just to really stick it to them. :-P

2045

Posted on: July 5, 2008

Last Wednesday at work, I went to a presentation to learn about some of the new options they’re adding to our 401(k) plans. They have some new target date funds, where they will choose your funds for you based upon your retirement date (more aggressive when you’re younger, more conservative investments as you near retirement, etc).

Then they put it up on the screen…. if you were born between 1/1/78 – 12/31/81, they suggest you select a retirement year of 2045. Jeez, that sounds like a looooooooong time from now. I will be 64 in 2045. Then they kept talking about how people like to work longer these days and there are now plans where you’re not required to take money out at 59.5 and can wait until you’re 70. And for the record, I don’t think people actually LIKE working, it’s more like they HAVE to keep working.

Yeah….. I was kind of done with this working thing at 25, and am sad that I had to keep working after that. And now you’re telling me I still have another 37 years ahead of me??

I’m off to buy some lottery tickets.

And here’s fun addictive flash game for you all…

Tontie

I love my satellite radio to bits. However, I find it funny that when I’m offered over a 100 stations to choose from, I listen to two. My dial is either railed to 90s pop music (I know, I need help… guilty pleasure) or Howard Stern (I really know how to class up this joint).

It’s amazing that I have really good friends who have such eclectic music tastes and I usually like what they suggest to me, yet I will always revert back to the pop music for whatever reason – maybe because it’s EVERYWHERE!! But, I find myself tired of that recently and looking to branch out.

Sooooo… I think I’m going to check out different stations on Sirius at work and expand my horizons. Any suggestions?

“Although the sun will never shine the same again
I’ll always look to a brighter day
Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
You will always listen as I pray

And I know you’re shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we’ve lost along the way
And I know eventually we’ll be together
One sweet day

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say”

I had my very own America’s Funniest Home Video moment at our tennis lesson tonight. Towards the end of our class, we were doing a drill/game where we played 3-on-3 (two at the baseline, one at the net). To start the drill, someone had to serve the ball to the other team, then you just play out the point.

I guess I was just out of energy since we’d been playing awhile and it was humid as heck out there. When it was my turn to serve, I didn’t really get much oomph behind the ball, and had pretty much just smacked it straight down in front of me. It then bounced up and hit one of my teammates square in the butt. I felt so bad because it was also the oldest lady in the class (probably in her early 60s). She even did a little “Woop!” and jumped up. I apologized profusely…. but then I’m also a jerk because I seriously had to bite my tongue for the rest of the class because I wanted to crack up. I’m going to hell.

Ahh, another episode of my sitcom life.

Photoblog

I started a photoblog to maybe inspire me to do my photo a day. WordPress has a pretty cool theme, where the background changes based on the colors in the photo.

I don’t know if I’ll keep both blogs up, maybe one or the other may fall to the way side, we’ll see. I liked how that format let me highlight one photo per entry. But, this is probably where I’ll post additional photos or an interesting story if I have one.

So, I put up a few of my recent favorite photos to get me started. Check it out and let me know what you think! As always, I love getting comments!

Aud’s Picture Pages (www.audtakesphotos.wordpress.com) Like that throwback to Bill Cosby? Kudos to you if you remember that show!
